TEAM is pleased to be offering our new training course on Introduction to Renewables in Buildings, specifically designed for energy management professionals looking to develop their knowledge of renewable technologies for planning purposes and in existing buildings.

This one-day course explores the benefits and possible financial gains of each of the options below:

• solar thermal
• solar photovoltaic
• small scale wind
• heat pumps
• biomass

Renewable energy technologies are a way of reducing your organisation's carbon emissions, and can make real contributions to energy reduction.  But by how much? Where do they work best?  Are they cost effective?

This course will help to answer some of these questions.  It will explain how each technology works and where they are best applied. Using case studies from real installations you will find out about some of the pitfalls and important lessons learned.  You will discover what tools are available to calculate the benefits from renwables, and how to assess the risks associated with implementing them.

Courses will be delivered by Tony Day, Energy Services Director at TEAM, previously Professor of Energy and the Built Environment at London South Bank University and Director of the Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings CEREB.  Tony has 20 years experience in teaching, research and consultancy of energy efficient buildings and low carbon technology solutions.

Courses will be held at CEREB and include a tour of the building.  This will enable demonstrations of renewable and low carbon technologies including solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, heat pumps, solar fibre optic lighting, phase change heat storage materials, absorption cooling as well as real time energy monitoring.
