Carlo Gavazzi UK Ltd is using the forthcoming Home Technology Event as the launch pad for its new range of eye-catching light switches, temperature displays and PIR detectors. These are the first products in the Aurora family of wall fittings, which complement Carlo Gavazzi’s Smart-house home automation system. The Home Technology Event takes place in London’s Excel, 15-17th June 2010.
Designed by Milan-based Bonorandi, the Aurora range combines aesthetics with technology for home automation applications. Powered from the Smart-house two-wire bus, they come in a 44mm square format, designed to fit directly into popular back plates designs.
Light switch
Model B4X-LS4 Aurora light switches provide four freely addressable buttons each with two LED indicators. The light switches are supplied with white and charcoal grey push-button covers to complement the wall plate.
Temperature controller
The Aurora temperature controller, B4X-TEMDIS, displays internal or external temperatures and allows heating or air conditioning to be switched on and off, with a night setback option for energy saving. Designed to blend with the other Aurora products, the temperature controller features dual-colour backlighting, glowing blue during settings and orange during standby.
Passive infra-red detector
To complete the initial Aurora offering, the bus-powered 44x44mm PIR detector is designed for indoor applications, offering a range of 6m and operating angle of 90°. The detector is supplied with white and charcoal grey covers.
Carlo Gavazzi’s forward-looking Smart-house roadmap includes further expansion of the Aurora line, for example to include wireless versions of these new products.
All devices can be set up and integrated with the Smart-house network using the BGP-COD-BAT programming unit. This battery-powered unit connects easily to the Aurora devices to enable programming of the device.
The current Aurora range is exhibited on stand D4a, together with an introductory presentation showing the full capabilities of Smart-house home automation.
Smart-house system
The Carlo Gavazzi Smart-house home automation system provides a cost effective solution for automating any home, now and for the future. Wiring is simple, using the same two-wire bus that communicates between components to also supply the power. Popular features include lighting control to set scenes and activating lights by motion or light intensity. Blinds and curtains can open and close automatically at the end of each day and can also be included in lighting scenarios. Heating can be controlled in individual rooms to save energy.
Dedicated detectors for smoke and intruders can be configured to make the house lights flash, sound an alarm and send a text message, water detectors can protect against flooding by shutting off the water supply to the house.
Automation can also be extended to the garden for path lighting, gate control, irrigation systems and pool covers. All aspects of the system can be controlled and viewed locally on wall mounted touch screens and high-end remote controls (Philips Pronto) or remotely by internet or mobile phone.
