Hager has extended its new range of Type B distribution boards to include twin pan assembly versions. Each pan assembly has its own meter mounted inside to measure lighting and power consumption separately.

Says Steve Dyson, product manager for Hager: “The last few years have seen a major change in the design and installation of commercial electrical distribution systems. Part L2 demands more sub metering, but the 17th edition has probably had an even bigger effect on final and sub distribution. Typically such boards need more outgoing ways, more RCBOs and/or RCD protection and more control devices.”

The twin pan assembly boards are available with prefitted 125A or 250A incomers with different split outgoing way configurations. In addition the contractor can select boards that have pan assemblies mounted either above each other or side-by-side depending on the space available for mounting.

The boards are supplied with meters that offer a pulsed output. The company can also tailor solutions to provide modbus output plus additional features such as data logging and web connectivity for remote meter reading.

In common with the other new Invicta boards, the twin pan assembly versions also make it easier for contractors to comply with the needs of the 17th edition. Features include a trunking connection mechanism that avoids the time and expense of using Paxolin or other fillers. There is also plenty of cabling space and the position and design of the earth and neutral bars allows easier wiring – an important feature for fitting RCBOs, which are longer than MCBs.

Hager also claims that its new type B boards are the most aesthetically pleasing available on the market. For sub and final distribution this is important, since the board is often sited in a visible area.

In addition, the board is one of the few available with a glazed door. This allows an ‘ordinary person’ as defined by the 17th edition to view the board while the door is locked. A ‘skilled’ or ‘instructed person’ can then access the board with a key.
