Pulse 24 has become the first company to sign the new gas AMR Code of Practice, known as ASPCoP, which has been developed by industry participants under the guidance of ESTA. Pulse 24 were one of the pioneers of Automated Meter reading AMR in gas and have been keen supporters of the development of the ASPCoP, which is designed to ensure interoperability of AMR data flows as well as providing quality standards for AMR service providers.
AMR (Automated Meter Reading) enables round-the-clock monitoring of the user’s energy consumption by measuring the pulses emitted by their meters. The data captured effectively brings “the meter to life” and becomes the starting point to guide improved energy performance. Recognising the importance of the meter in providing a robust gas AMR solution, last year Pulse 24 became part of the Energy Assets group, one of the country’s leading metering companies and an OFGEM approved Meter Asset Manager (MAM).
Alan McKeating, managing director of Energy Assets, said “We are committed to providing the highest levels of service to all our customers and we welcome the introduction of an industry standard for the provision of gas AMR . We had no hesitation in signing up to ASPCoP and are delighted to be the first to do so.” He went on to say “ESTA have done a great job in developing the code and I hope that other AMR service providers will follow our lead and sign up”.
The need for good quality AMR, like that defined by ASPCoP is now more important than ever, as many organisations prepare for the imminent introduction of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. In response to increased demand many service providers are looking to enhance their offer and Pulse 24 is no exception. “Our unrivalled experience of the gas industry and gas metering means we can offer a seamless solution of both AMR and meter replacement” explained McKeating. “This combined solution is critical to the successful implementation of AMR and Pulse 24 are proud to be leading the way”.
Uptake of AMR is also being encouraged by the introduction of simpler ways to obtain AMR solutions. For example Buying Solutions, the public sector procurement organisation, has established framework agreements for utility supply that include the provision of AMR, which means that under the gas framework with Corona Energy customers can already select an approved AMR offering that incorporates meter replacements, delivered by Pulse 24.
