FIND THE LIGHT

Moving to a Low Carbon economy places responsibility for low carbon achievement with those responsible for energy use - energy, facility, maintenance managers, designers and constructors.  This complex and sometimes disparate set of pressures and requirements is often confusing and impenetrable.  However, there is 'Light at the end of the tunnel' as the programmes begin to move in a common direction and with common aims.

With the announcement of the Low Carbon Transition Plan, the Government has set out an agenda to reduce carbon emissions by at least 34% by 2020.  But the impact of the move towards a lower carbon economy will be felt now by business and the public sector.  To help energy and facilities managers cope with the raft of new carbon-related regulations, the Energy Services and Technology Association (ESTA) is offering you the opportunity to gain some expert advice – and at no cost!

The key topics are:

  • Low Carbon Transition Plan - Carbon targets and what it means to you.
  • CRC Carbon Reduction Commitment - your strategy to comply and get the best return.
Including important updates on recent, final amendments to the scheme.
  • DECs Display Energy Certificates - using them as a Facility Management tool to manage your building for low carbon.
  • Part L Building Regulations - compliance for 2010 and the trajectory to zero carbon building by 2019.
  • Energy Management Standards - using the new EN16001 and associated standards to manage energy in a disciplined and structured manner.

Who should attend?

All those in planning, design, construction, site management, operations, maintenance, finance and procurement with responsibility for energy use or are budget holders for energy use or are responsible for their organisations commitment or reporting to environmental, energy and carbon targets.

What will you gain?

  • Understanding of current legislation affecting you and how to react.
  • Application experience covering energy saving equipment such as energy controls, lighting controls, building energy management systems, variable speed drives, high efficiency motors,
  • Management experience of applying new systems and regimes to operating plant and equipment, managing responsibly, maintenance.
  • Funding opportunities for good projects through leasing, loans and Contract Energy Management
  • Opportunity to see and discuss the latest equipment and techniques available to reduce energy costs
