Smart meters and AMR – the truth behind the headlines [ 1,500kb]
Richard Street, Regulatory Affairs Manager, Corona Energy
Paul Hamblyn, Consultancy Services Manager, Pulse 24 Limited

From January 2009 energy suppliers will need to begin the process of installing so called smart meters for many larger gas and electricity customers. The Government is also consulting on extending this obligation to include energy supplies to most non-domestic energy customers. This new obligation may appear to shift responsibility for providing automated meter reads form the consumer to the supplier, but is this really the case?

This clinic explores the new metering obligation and includes an energy supplier’s perspective. Additionally, the clinic will look in detail at why AMR should be applied now.
